【Arithmer Seminar #01】An invited lecture by Prof. Yoshikazu, Professor of Graduate School of Mathematical Sciences, the University of Tokyo, was held at our Roppongi headquarters office on Thursday, December 20.
“On the solutions of differential equations – a case study using the total variation flow equation”
■Outline of the lecture：
Even if one describes phenomena in a differential equation, theoretical considerations may be avoided, because its solution cannot be written in terms of simple functions. Fortunately, thanks to the progress of modern mathematical analysis, although an explicit form of the solution is unknown, the behavior of the solution has come to be understood. For this purpose, however, it is necessary to exactly define what the “solution” is. In this lecture, the progress of mathematical analysis is introduced for the total variation flow equation used in image processing as an example.
